5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule quinolinium compound used as a selective chemical probe for nicotinamide N-methyltransferase. It appears in metabolic literature alongside NAD+ research because the two intersect at nicotinamide handling.
Cell-permeable inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). Inhibiting NNMT reduces conversion of nicotinamide to 1-methylnicotinamide, which in adipocyte models is associated with a shifted NAD+ salvage flux and altered methylation-pool dynamics.
