TB-500 is the synthetic acetylated fragment corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4. It is used where the functional actin-sequestering domain is required without the cost and handling complexity of the full 43-residue parent protein.
The core LKKTETQ motif binds G-actin monomers and modulates the actin polymerisation equilibrium. In cell-migration assays this is associated with cytoskeletal remodelling, and secondary reports describe effects on endothelial cell differentiation and matrix metalloproteinase expression.

Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation on the lyophilized cake. Add sterile or bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial, then let the powder dissolve without agitation; swirl gently if needed. Do not shake or vortex — shear forces denature peptide secondary structure and cause foaming that traps material on the stopper.
As a sealed lyophilized powder the material is stable for extended periods at -20 °C when kept desiccated and protected from light. Once in solution, stability shortens considerably: aqueous stocks are normally held at 2-8 °C for short term work or aliquoted and frozen for longer storage. Repeated freeze-thaw cycling is the most common cause of measurable potency loss.
