Research ethics and intended laboratory use

Research use only, stated plainly

Compounds supplied here are not drugs, dietary supplements, cosmetics or medical devices. They are not approved for human or veterinary use, they must not be administered to humans or animals, and no statement anywhere on this site should be read as describing a therapeutic use, dose or benefit.

Where a compound appears in published clinical literature, that literature describes work conducted under regulatory and ethical oversight with pharmaceutical-grade material. It does not transfer to research material supplied for laboratory use, and we make no claims on the basis of it.

Responsibilities of the receiving laboratory

Ordering research material is an undertaking that the material will be handled within an appropriate framework. The receiving laboratory is responsible for what happens after delivery.

• Confirming the material is appropriate for the intended laboratory work
• Holding any institutional or ethical approvals the work requires
• Complying with applicable local, state and federal law
• Ensuring personnel are competent to handle research chemicals
• Storing and disposing of material appropriately
• Not redistributing material for use outside a laboratory setting

Where our role ends

We supply characterised material with documentation describing what was measured. We do not advise on experimental design, dosing, administration or protocol, and we cannot comment on the suitability of a compound for any application involving a living subject. Requests of that kind are declined rather than answered informally.

Technical support covers what we can speak to accurately: documentation, analytical methodology, physical handling and reconstitution mechanics.

Transparency philosophy

Two commitments follow from the above. First, we publish what we measure, including the method, rather than a bare figure. Second, where something is not measured or not known, we say so instead of estimating. Educational content on this site describes established analytical and laboratory practice; it does not describe outcomes we have not observed.
