AOD-9604 corresponds to the C-terminal 176-191 fragment of human growth hormone with an added tyrosine. It entered the literature as a probe for separating the lipolytic domain of hGH from its somatogenic, IGF-1-mediated activity.
In adipocyte models the fragment is associated with increased beta-3 adrenergic receptor expression and stimulation of hormone-sensitive lipase, without measurable activation of the growth hormone receptor or of IGF-1 output. This dissociation is the compound's principal experimental interest.

Allow the vial to reach room temperature before opening to prevent condensation on the lyophilized cake. Add sterile or bacteriostatic water slowly down the inner wall of the vial, then let the powder dissolve without agitation; swirl gently if needed. Do not shake or vortex — shear forces denature peptide secondary structure and cause foaming that traps material on the stopper.
