Shipping and packaging standards

Packaging exists to protect the physical integrity of a lyophilized cake and the legibility of its label. This page describes the standards applied and the checks a receiving laboratory should perform.

Why lyophilized material ships at ambient temperature

Lyophilization removes the water that drives most degradation pathways. A sealed, desiccated cake is substantially more robust than the same peptide in solution, and is stable across a normal transit window at ambient temperature. Cold-chain shipping is therefore not required for the material as supplied.

Ambient transit is not a licence for indefinite ambient storage. On arrival, material should be moved to its intended storage temperature promptly.

Packaging construction

Each vial travels in a rigid insert that prevents movement inside the outer carton, because mechanical shock, not temperature, is the most common cause of transit damage to a lyophilized presentation.

  • Rigid protective insert holding each vial in place
  • Outer carton sized to eliminate free movement
  • Plain, unbranded outer packaging with no product description
  • Tracked dispatch within the United States only
  • Label protected from abrasion so lot and expiry stay legible

Goods-in checks

A short receiving check protects your own records as much as ours. Perform it before the material enters inventory.

  1. 01Inspect the outer cartonNote crushing or puncture damage before opening.
  2. 02Inspect each vialCheck the seal is intact and the stopper fully seated.
  3. 03Inspect the cakeA uniform cake is expected; note collapse or visible particulates.
  4. 04Read the labelConfirm compound, strength, lot number and expiry are legible.
  5. 05Record and storeLog receipt date and condition, then move to storage temperature.

Frequently asked questions

Is a certificate of analysis enclosed with the shipment?

No. Certificates are published digitally and indexed by lot so they can be read before ordering and re-verified afterwards.

Does a shifted or collapsed cake mean the material is unusable?

A cake can shift in transit without being compromised. Visible collapse, discolouration or particulates are worth raising with laboratory support before use.

Do you ship outside the United States?

No. Dispatch is within the United States only, from Chase City, Virginia.
